Hey, friend!
When I first started writing, someone gave me a piece of advice that I’ve found to be one of the most valuable pieces of advice I’ve ever had bestowed on me: write what you know.
I looked around at the things I know. Aside from the fact that I don’t really feel like I know anything (except Joe Burrow is The Man!), there were only 2 things that I really felt like an “expert” in—big families and small towns.
This was the road that led me to the Landry family.
I started with three brothers and that quickly grew to four. Soon, they had twin sisters that were a giant pain in their behinds. ;) They were close-knit, as my children are, and although they lived in Savannah, Georgia, it certainly felt like a much smaller town.
It’s my bestselling series of all time.
The book world has changed a lot since I wrote that series. So many new readers are looking for covers without “real people”. I have mixed opinions about this (I love a good set of shoulders on a couple—my weakness!), but I also need to be able to get my books into a lot of hands to pay the bills.
So, I changed the covers.
Granted, I haven’t changed them since they came out so they were due for an update. But it still killed a piece of my heart to get rid of the originals.
And then I saw the new designs and holy smokes!—I was in love. I am in love. I love them.
They’re bright and playful, fun and happy. They represent the stories so well.
I hope you love them as much as I do.
To kick off the new covers, I’ve made the first book in the series, Sway, FREE through the weekend. Grab it if you haven’t read it!
Note: you can absolutely read Sway as a standalone novel. You do not have to read the others in order to enjoy Sway.
Input needed—I’d love to know what you think about the Substack way of sending newsletters. Personally? I love it. It’s so easy for me and I love that it goes to my inbox. (Does it yours? I’d love to know that too!)
I typically use Mailerlite and I still send out emails from there every week. But I’m considering switching solely to Substack.
Weigh in! I’d love your thoughts! (Especially considering YOU are who I’m trying to make happy. Ha!)
I’ll be back soon with more fun things. (I’m working on something SUPER FUN for this space!) In the meantime, email me at authoradrianalocke@gmail.com and let me know what you think about this method of sending emails.
Thank you for being here. :)
